Question: How should Christians react to passing out marriage licenses to same-sex couples? What is the Christian remedy?

An Answer: As Roe v. Wade has proved, it is next to impossible to get the Supreme Court to reverse its rulings. Political chitter-chat doesn’t work. So, go ahead and let perverts apply for a “marriage license,” but let soon-to-be-married heterosexual Christians Stop Applying for a Marriage Licenses! Quit begging the State for permission to do what God has ordained as lawful. Preachers, stop marrying people with a license from the State and only marry people under common law! Refuse to marry any same-sex couple, and therefore, honor the LORD God. 

Rationale: One definition of “license” in Black’s Law Dictionary, Sixth Edition,  is permission to do that which is illegal or unlawful. Since homosexuality is unnatural and unlawful according to God’s Holy Word (Leviticus 18), same-sex couples definitely need a license to marry; that is, they need the State’s permission to do that which is unlawful according to government policy.

But, since marriage between consenting heterosexual adults has never been unlawful, they do not need a “license” from the State to get married. Think about it! People have been getting married for over six thousand years without out a license. Licenses to marry are a modern corporate invention. Licenses didn’t come into practice until after the Civil War when whites and black began to inter-marry–a State forbidden practice at the time.

A marriage is a contract. All a couple needs for marriage is the consent of their parents (preferably), and their own individual consent (mandatory). Under God’s law, they do not need the consent of the State (See Genesis 24).

Only one law is mentioned in the United States Constitution (the Bill of Rights) and that is the “common law”–the law of the People. Common law is Biblical law. Biblical law permits marriage between an adult man and woman, and forbids same-sex unions. There is no such thing as “common law” same-sex marriage in antiquity.

Therefore, one solution to over come the Supreme Court’s attack on marriage is for Christians to Stop Applying for Marriage Licenses and marry with a common law contract or Biblical covenant / contract. Stop paying the State fees to do what God has declared as lawful!

Go ahead! Let the Sodomites and Lesbos apply for licenses. But, Christian, stop encouraging people to get permission from the State to marry. Stop listening to lawyers who don’t know Biblical law and who are licensed by the BAR Association to practice State statutory enactments which only apply to legal persons.

Declaration of Marriage

COME NOW THE UNDERSIGNED PARTIES, Name of Groom and Name of Bride, creations of Almighty God, having declined the option of state franchise and the disabilities associated therewith, do assert our God-given rights — “rights reserved . . . for the People” (Amendment I; Amendment X), under the authority of Biblical Law, Common Law, as protected by the Constitution, having taken our marriage vows with the Lord Jesus Christ as our witness in the company of family and friends, do now hereby state our Declaration of Marriage to live together as Man and Wife:

We affirm that we are Citizens of the united states of America endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights; that we are of legal age, competent to contract; and, that we knowingly, voluntarily, and willingly entered into the Holy Estate of Marriage without state intervention, permission, or license. We affirm the Rights reserved for WE THE PEOPLE and with full authority do hereby exercise the right to marry under the laws of Almighty God.

From the date of this Declaration, we shall be known as husband and wife, Mr. & Mrs. Name of Groom, and the title Sui Juris shall remain with Name of Groom as husband, and Alieni Juris shall remain with Name of Bride, who shall hereafter be known as Mrs. Name of Groom, wife of Name of Groom that is, a wife subject to and under the protection of her husband by choice.

That should we bear children in this union, our desire is that they be reared lovingly under God’s Law jointly with the responsibility and care of the children equally divided and sustenance maintained by both parties; that the purchase of assets in joint names, the same shall be considered as held in common tenancy. Other than debts validly contracted for services or materials or otherwise related to joint property of the Husband and Wife, if any, the Husband, Sui-Juris, shall have the right to act for, to obligate for, act for, contract for and act to the benefit of his Wife, Alieni-Juris, under the Common Law.
