Deuteronomy 23:6 Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.
In the previous article, we discussed the religion of left; that is, the sweetheart doctrine of “equality” that drives the liberal agenda.
The second mark of this new religion is that of maximum inclusivity.
Citizenship without partnership and liberty without responsibility is being provided to enemies of the West. It is now policy that benefits of the American commonwealth be extended to all peoples of the world without regard to class, education, language, culture, ethnicity, or religion. Such a position not only dilutes, but pollutes the core values that hold a nation together.
Many politicians have a vision of a nation without borders . . . or language . . . or religion . . . or law. They are so open minded their brains are going to fall out. George Soros said, “Our plan treats the protection of refugees as the objective, and national borders as the obstacle.”
President Ronald Reagan was correct, ““A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.”
But, the issue is more than borders, it involves a vision on the left of maximum inclusivity to the exclusion of no one.
In contrast to the openness of the left, let’s take a look at citizenship in Israel.
Deuteronomy 23:1 He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
Deuteronomy 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
Deuteronomy 23:3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:
Deuteronomy 23:6 Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.
Deuteronomy 23:7 Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou was a stranger in his land.
By “entering the congregation of the Lord,” the text appears to address holding civil office. The value to include everyone and love everybody had no warrant in Israel. The tabernacle had a wall around it and communicated one reality—stay out! Cities were walled to prevent being overrun by enemies. The army existed to prevent invasion and piracy.
God as the Source of law established the requisites for citizenship in the Commonwealth. Civil leadership was restricted to members of the covenant community, and certain classes of people were barred from membership. There was a path to citizenship, but in some cases citizenship could only be obtained after ten generations. Restriction assured that the most responsible in the community would rise to leadership. The incompetent, foreigners, and enemies could not slide in and participate in the political process.
The laws of exclusion protected the nation.
First, eunuchs were barred from citizenship. Because eunuchs are without posterity, they have no stake in the future. A type of existential man, their interests are limited to the here and now; that is, they do not possess a genuine interest in future generations and were therefore, barred from holding civil or ecclesiastical office.
Second, Bastards were barred from citizenship until the tenth generation. Because they are the product of lawlessness, they were not permitted to participate in the offices that enforced God’s law-order. Indeed, they lacked the capacity and perspective associated with law-abiding parents; and, therefore, were incompetent prospects for matters pertaining to law and order.
Third, Ammonites and Moabites were barred from citizenship. Because of their low moral character and debased cultural entrenchment, they were restricted from citizenship for ten generations . . . or forever. Not only were their loyalties cautiously in question, their morals disqualified them from participating in the commonwealth. Rebellious attitudes against God’s law-order were toxic from generation to generation. Thus, it took ten generations to purge a family of debilitating customs and dogmas, and to integrate into and to participate in the commonwealth. Israelites were commanded to act prejudicially against the Ammonite and Moabite lest they infiltrate society and demoralize the nation.
Israelites, however, were not permitted to maltreat Edomites or Egyptians. Though once oppressed by the Egyptians, Israel was prevented by law to become the oppressor of these ethnic groups. One God meant one law for the Israelite and the Egyptian; that is, Egyptians and Edomites, though not part of the commonwealth, were to be treated fairly according to the law-word of the LORD God.
Fourth, Canaanites were not only barred from citizenship, they were sentenced to death, and Israel was the executioner (Deuteronomy 20:16-18). The principle of judgment rested on the fact that they were not only enemies of Israel, but enemies of God’s law-order. Why would any nation grant its enemies citizenship rights until loyalty has been established? This is the insanity our age. The West seems hell-bent on granting privileges to enemies of the people.
Because public officers no longer distinguish between the holy and the profane, heaven and hell, good and evil, policy makers have permitted enemies to immigrate to this country. Moreover, it has promoted the advancement of rebel feminists, transvestites, and Sodomites to positions of civil authority creating the present hate-filled chaos in the politics. Anarchy is sure to follow.
The call for unity and peace demonstrates a lack of discernment about the deep rift between two factions in America. There can be no peace between heaven and hell.
The remedy is war. The offer of fake peace is national suicide.
Deuteronomy 23:6 Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.
