Pope Francis and Guns

The pope said, “Not Christian if you buy, manufacture or support guns.”

TURIN, Italy (Reuters) – People who manufacture weapons or invest in weapons industries are hypocrites if they call themselves Christian, Pope Francis said on Sunday.

“It makes me think of … people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn’t it?” he said to applause.

He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying “duplicity is the currency of today … they say one thing and do another.”

Well, maybe the Pope should disarm his body guard. Maybe, the president of the United States should fire all his pagan secret service guys who carry a Glock 17.. Heck, why not disarm the United States military and discharge every chaplain that supports killin’ Isis with AK-47s. And, don’t forget to damn all those Texas ranchers that carry guns in the pickups to shoot snakes and varmints.

Seems like the Pope believes in protecting the life of government officials, but that most simple Christians should not protect themselves.

Me thinks the Pope reads the Scripture selectively for the it says, “let praise be in their mouth and a 9mm Glock in their right hand”  or something like that (Psalm 149:6).
