Sugar-Blasted Christianity
The Nice Christian & the Spiritual Disease of Tolerance

The church is infected with nicety.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the famous German Theologian and member of the resistance group in Nazi Germany, came to America (1930), He was stunned when he saw that American Christianity was not about truth, but about tolerance.
“Why must it so often be the bad people who make the revolutions?”
“Religion today is far more committed to so-called ‘tolerance’ — than to the Truth.”
Though Jesus said the “truth shall set you free,” American Christianity appears to believe that toleration of evil will set men free. that is, that she is supposed to be non-confrontive of militant feminist, Sodomites, and baby butchers. Americans have a fear of rejection. They’d rather be accepted by men than obedient to God. Consequently, they look at militant Christianity as extreme and unloving.
“You do not fail in obedience through lack of love, but you lack love because you never attempted obedience.”
“Only the Believer obeys, and only he who obeys, believes.” (Bonhoeffer)
To put it another way, American Christianity believes that being sugar-slap nice is the way to win the world to Christ. Forget being “salt,” Christians are into being maple syrup (See Joel Osteen as an example).
Tolerance of evil men is a vice, not a virtue. Tolerance is the doctrine preached when the minority (lesbians et al.) is seeking to conquer the majority. Sodomites charge Christians with not being tolerant in hopes they will back off their message of moral absolutes.
Nicety is a spiritual disease. Paul condemned this sugar-blasted Christianity when he said, ” It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father’s wife. And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn?” (1 Corinthians 5:5-2).
If you are a member of a large church and you have not excommunicated people from your congregation in the last year, you are simply not following Christ. There is just too much “junk” going on in the lives of “Christians.”
The church militant is called to have vinegar in their veins and salt on their tongue. “Love is a fulfillment of the law,” not neglect of moral standards (Romans 13:8).
