On Thursday, February 18, Pope Francis chastised Donald Trump for wanting to build a wall between the United States and Mexico to keep illegal aliens from trespassing on US soil.
Pope Francis said about the Donald:
“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not the gospel.”
Hummm? Let’s think about this?
Didn’t God command Nehemiah to build a wall around Jerusalem?
Didn’t Christ condemn thieves who jumped over walls to steal sheep within the sheep pin?
Isn’t the ideal city of God in Revelation 22 a city with walls?
Isn’t the Vatican a walled city-state, and one of the most policed places on earth . . . all designed to keep people out?
Doesn’t the White House have a fence around it?
Doesn’t Mexico have harsh, stringent laws against Americans who trespass over its borders–laws that are extremely punitive? Why didn’t the Pope chastise Presidente Enrique Peña Nieto and demand he permit Americans to enter Mexico without a passport?
Why didn’t the Pontiff thank God for America’s kind and generous immigration policy? Or, why didn’t he challenge America’s tolerance of thieves coming coming across its borders illegally?
In thinking of the Great Wall of China, I wonder if the Chinese would agree with the Pontiff?
If the Pope is saying that its unchristian to build walls around a nation . . . is he also saying it unchristian to build a fence around one’s yard . . . or ranch . . . or to lock your car . . . or to have locks and doors on your house?
Why didn’t the Pope chastise Mexicans for “breaking and entering” the U.S. without permission? Isn’t trespass a sin?
Walls are needed because evil men (Mexicans) do not respect the laws and borders of other people. Thus, good men must build walls to protect their interests in property.
The Donald seemed more Christian than the Pope when he said, “I like his personality,” and, “I like what he represents. And I certainly have respect for the position.”
His position?
Me thinks the Pope spoke hastily advocating unchristian policies.
