Treason to Christ
By Storm Brooks
“The one I will kiss is the man; seize him.” (Mt. 26:48)
The government is very concerned about treason, and has severe laws in place to punish those who seek to overthrow the government. But, Christians have not been as careful to recognize treason to Christ.
On April 10, 2015, Fox News reported that an Orange County elementary teacher in New Jersey was suspended for having her third grade class write “get well” cards to convicted cop killer and former Black Panther, a death-row inmate, Mumia Abu-Jamal. The teacher, Marylin Zuniga, delivered “get well” cards through an agent at Baruch College, Johanna Fernandez. Apparently, the inmate had been rushed to the hospital because he was suffering with complications from diabetes. Apparently, the school officials saw this as giving aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States and something totally inappropriate.
The term “treason” and “betrayal” imply betraying a trust and giving unwarranted concessions to an enemy.
Are not Christians conveniently betraying Christ and committing treason when they give comfort to His enemies?
Consider the following: When Christians are not belligerent and bellicose to Godless legislation vomiting out of Washington D.C., they double-cross King Jesus. When believers do not oppose abortions, they give comfort to baby-killers. When Christians are silent and passive about Obama’s permissive illegal immigration policies, they betray their country.
How do you love Christ? By obeying him, and loving His people. How do you betray Christ? By giving comfort and aid to His enemies. Christian need to love Christ more by hating evil; by resisting wicked legislation formed by rebels in blue suits and red ties; by confronting proponents of those preaching tolerance of baby-killing, Sodomite acts, and militant feminists. Christian men need to stop wearing finger nail polish, let out a war whoop and a holler, and start showing some teeth in public debates.
Psalm 89:23 I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him.
Psalm 139:22 I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies.
Psalm 119:163 I hate and abhor falsehood, but I love your law.
Psalm 119:113 I hate the double-minded, but I love your law.
